Family Friendly Alpaca Treks

Our Family Friendly Alpaca Treks are the perfect way to meet our alpacas. We offer a 60-minute, family friendly, PRIVATE, treks which you get to enjoy with your own carefully selected alpaca who will accompany you on your trek. The trek takes place on a beautiful private farm track so there's no need to worry about encountering members of the public or dogs, and also provides a beautiful backdrop for those all important photos.

This is perfect for those who want a more hands on activity spending time and building a bond with just one alpaca, and have children in your party.
If your party is just with those 16 or over, checkout our 'normal' alpaca treks where we offer both public and private treks.
If you are looking for our original alpaca experiences, don't worry, they will be returning from approximately March onwards, as soon as the weather improves and we aren't at risk of poaching the paddocks.

Before booking onto one of our treks, please take the time to read our guidelines below to make sure our alpaca treks are suitable for you.

A. For insurance reasons, one adult (16 and over) and one child (under 16) will share an alpaca.

B. Whilst we have extensively trained our animals and exposed them to all sorts of different things, we do ask that all trekkers believe they are capable of keeping ahold of that lead rope if they do have a little jump about.

C. The total experience is 60 minutes long, once we start the walking aspect there are no short cuts back to the carpark so we ask that all trekkers believe they are capable of walking for this length of time.

D. Suitable footwear is compulsory as we walk across grass. During summer we reccomend trainers or walking boots, and during winter walking boots or wellies are best.
Alpacas have softer feet then horses but we insist that toes are covered all year round to be on the safe side. In the event of rain we do not allow umbrellas on the trek so please bring waterproofs instead.

E. Due to the nature of the ground, walking aids and wheelchairs are not permitted.

F. We recommend the use of insect repellent due to the nature of being with animals in open countryside.

G. No dogs, including guide and assistance dogs.

H. We run our treks in all weather, except thunderstorms or when there are dangerous road conditions locally. Due to the British weather being rather temperamental we cannot cancel treks every time it rains. If we believe the weather to be too bad we will get in touch, so please keep an ear out.

I. All trekkers must only arrive on site 5-10 minutes maximum before the start of the trek, you will then be collected from your car by a guide when we are ready for the session to begin. If you are going to be late please get in touch as soon as possible.

!!!! J. We do not offer refunds, in the event of a cancelation we will transfer your ticket to a gift voucher which will be valid for 12 months. We require at least 72 hours notice if you need to cancel, any cancellations after this time will not be eligible for a gift voucher and the booking will be lost with no voucher, transfer or refund due. We often struggle to fill slots at such short notice and as such lose business. !!!!

K. We do not guarantee that late comers will not be able to take party in their activity. Please let us know as soon as you know you are going to be late, and we will do our best to delay the start of the activity. However, the finishing time will remain the same.

L. Toilet facilities are only available on strictly an emergency basis. If you do require the toilet please text your guide as soon as you arrive.

M. If you are looking for our alpaca experiences, which includes more alpaca cuddles and alpaca agility, do not worry! These family friendly alpaca treks are simply an alternative activity we offer over the winter for families, we are hoping to resume our alpaca treks from March onwards, but we are dictated by the weather.

N. COVID POLICY: Please remember that everytime someone cancels at the last last minute due to covid, we actually lose income, often this cannot be helped. If you are attending, please consider doing your test over 24 hours before visiting, as opposed to late the night before, in order to give us chance to fill that time slot if you are positive. If you do test positive, please let us know IMMEDIATELY. We reserve the right to enforce our cancellation policy if you let us know at the last minute last minute, when you could have let us know a reasonable time in advance; for instance, if you let us know 12 hours before the start of your activity, but your NHS email shows you reported the positive lateral flow test 48 hours prior, we reserve the right to enforce our cancellation policy and you will lose your booking. We will not rearrange any booking cancelled due coronavirus without evidence of a positive test, in the form of your NHS email once you have reported your positive test.
To assist us, as soon as you test positive:
-Send evidence (NHS email) of your positive test
-Email this evidence, to natterjackalpacas@gmail.com
