Journaling to chap books Workshop at Forest Hall Library

Details

Building on from the previous series of nature journal workshops at Forest Hall Library, these new sessions are opening up the subjects to include historic, architectural and quirky subjects. Our first session was a discussion session as to what could be our focus for the development of new chapbooks and agreed on the new path The Tyne Derwent Way being developed. We have widened the geological boundaries to include the Ouseburn and so our story begins at the City Farm in Byker and finishes at Gibside. This can include the story of Domestos, the Victoria Tunnel, The Baltic floor Mill, keelmen and the Tyne bridges, the Dunston Staithes, waders and gulls and of course Red Kites along the Derwent.

Each artist is encouraged to develop their own chapbook based on these subjects and this area. In addition to the formal sessions we are also meeting for informal site visits which will allow for discussion as well as to see for ourselves the subjects and to do a bit of urban sketching along the way. Of course a cuppa now and then too!

If you would like to take part in this creative and addictive new way of creating art and stories then come along to the next session at Forest Hall Library.
