How the courts apply the principles of te Tiriti o Waitangi is the topic of a presentation by experts Dr Carwyn Jones (Ngāti Kahungunu and Te Aitanga-a-Māhaki) and Dr Damen Ward; co-authors of the award winning book: Treaty Law: Principles of the Treaty of Waitangi in Law and Practice.
This 90-minute recording of the in-person event and livestream held on the 12 November 2024 also features a panel discussion facilitated by barrister Natalie Coates (Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Hine, Tῡwharetoa, Te Whānau a Apanui, Tῡhourangi) along with founding Tumuaki of Whāia Legal Horiana Irwain-Easthope (Ngāti Porou, Ngāti Kahungunu and Rakaipāka) and junior barrister Nerys Udy (Ngāi Tahu).
