MBCL is designed as a deepening course for those who are familiar with basic mindfulness practice already, preferably through participation in an eight-week mindfulness training (MBSR, MBCT or equivalent). Participants with a regular mindfulness meditation practice of at least 1 year (± 1.5 hours of formal practice per week) are also welcome.
The Mindfulness-Based Compassionate Living (MBCL) programme offers exercises in cultivating compassion for ourselves and others. MBCL follows the model of the MBSR/MBCT course (8 sessions of 2- 2.5 hours and an extra session in silence); it is particularly suitable for those who find mindfulness practice beneficial but have difficulty integrating it into their daily lives. All who wish to deepen the healing effects of mindfulness and develop a kind and compassionate attitude towards themselves and to others are welcome.
The training is based on a scientific understanding of the importance of (self-)compassion and the positive effects of most components have been separately demonstrated in studies among clinical and non-clinical populations.
