I am excited to be holding this space for the Sacred Celebration of Imbolc - a time to plant seeds and the Brothers will help us to explorer this concept as we take a magical day to dive deeply into Sound and Movement:
We will start by well coming everyone and Opening the Sacred container for the day ahead.
After all our introductions we will begin our first exploration of Sacred Sound with the journey of the drum as Matt expertly guide us through this time old instrument and the techniques.
The drum is older than language. It connects us to our ancient selves. We'll explore the powerful magic of this ancient technology and its ability to connect us, to induce flow state, and shake of unwanted energy. You will be able to participate in fun, call and response practices, learn how to join in and create a ground shaking groove and feel how easy it is to hold space for ceremony with this ancient device.
This will be followed by some movement with Stef:
Synergy is an approach to movement which like eastern internal arts inspires us to move from the core (dantien, kanda). Predominant standing sequences that can be followed effectively without an prior experience. The session starts with therapeutic aspects of yoga movement focussed from the centre then a section with visually guided sequences flows to music.
The medicine results in the effect of mental flow state. Calm but firm. Invigorated and energised.
We will break for lunch and will invite everyone to this beautiful hour of connection and sharing, resting and immersing in the energy of the container.
After lunch we will be taking an exploration of the voice with Dave. The voice is the sonic activator often feared by our sceptic mind yet has the potentional for deep transformation.
Each voice is a unique vibration where the intention, breath and feeling meet. In this age of auto tune, so often our voices are silenced or muffled by social stigma, authority or the judgement of the critic. Tension kills vibration; relaxing we travel deeper into sound. Journeying with the breath and simple movement, free sound making, improvised play and accapella songs, there’s an invitation here to feel the medicine of our own voice. A mix of breath, exploration, relaxation and play.
There will be plenty of intervals throughout the day to move, hydrate and integrate the sessions.
After the workshops we will then be taken on a beautiful sacred journey of music as we begin our two hour Bhakti concert.
Closing the space around 9pm
This is set to be a beautiful day of holding, connection and nourishment as we plant our seeds deeply into the ground.
We really look forward to welcoming you to this Imbolc Day Retreat.
