RUH Bath Swimming Pool

GENERAL RULES

  1. RUH Lifeguards are provided to maintain safety in the pool. The application of the Pool Rules below is decided solely by the Lifeguard on duty. Their ruling is not up for dispute and should be respected by all pool users. Users who do not respect this, who are abusive to staff, or do not follow their instructions will be asked not to return to the Pool.

  2. ALL SWIMMERS SWIM AT THIER OWN RISK.

  3. RUH staff and their immediate families can book up to 3 weeks in advance (staff member's badge must be shown on entry), non-RUH staff can book up to 2 weeks in advance.

  4. CHANGING/TRANSFERRING A SLOT DATE/TIME - If you have booked a slot and want to change the date/time, click 'View Booking' in your confirmation email. This should open a browser page with details of your booking. Click 'Ticket Options' and select the option to change your slot - follow the instructions and book your new slot date/time. PLEASE NOTE, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TRANSFER A BOOKING LESS THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE YOUR SWIM SLOT, SO OTHERS HAVE A CHANCE TO RE-BOOK.

  5. CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS - If you want to cancel your slot and get a refund, this should be done MORE THAN 48 HOURS BEFORE YOUR SWIM TIME, otherwise you will not get a refund. Go to your booking email, click View Booking and cancel your slot. Once this is done, email the booking code (ideally just forward the email you receive confirming that the booking has been cancelled) to ruh-tr.swimmingpool@nhs.net and request a refund. Please be patient when you have requested a refund - we are extremely short staffed and receive hundreds of emails during the season, each which needs to be investigated individually and takes time. Please rest assured that if you have requested a refund, we will get to it eventually - there is no need to send chaser emails.

  6. All swimmers must report to the Pool Attendant on duty before entering the pool.

  7. All swimmers should shower before using the pool.

  8. Shoes must not be worn in the changing rooms.

  9. Normal swim wear must be worn in the pool.

  10. Bicycles are not permitted in the pool compound.

  11. No running permitted within the pool compound at any time.

  12. No alcohol or glass is allowed within the pool compound.

  13. No eating in the pool.

  14. Smoking and or vaping is not allowed within the pool compound.

  15. All pool users should pay a separate fee, regardless of age.

RULES FOR CHILDREN:

  1. Children must be a minimum of 11 years old to be allowed to swim without a parent/Guardian.

  2. Children under 11 must be accompanied by a parent/Guardian.

  3. Children under 11 are only allowed to use the Pool for Lane-Free Swimming. At all times they must be kept under constant supervision by their parent/Guardian. If this does not happen, the Lifeguard will ask the child and the parent/guardian to leave the pool.

  4. The maximum number of children under 11 years old that can be supervised by 1x adult is 2x children.

  5. Children under 6 months old are not allowed in the pool at any time.

  6. Children still using nappies are required to wear commercially recognised swimming versions in the pool.

LANE SWIMMING RULES:

  1. All other pool rules should be followed.

  2. Children under 11 are not permitted in lane swimming sessions.

  3. Lane swimming is allowed only for confident swimmers who can swim lengths of the pool repeatedly. This is decided at the discretion of the Lifeguard on duty and their judgement is not for dispute (see Rule 1).

LANE-FREE SWIMMING:

  1. All other pool rules should be followed.

  2. No child/adult parties. Lane-free swimming is to enable families and individuals who do not want to swim in lanes to be able to enjoy the pool. Please do not book tickets in bulk for parties, as our pool is not large enough for this purpose, and it makes parental/guardian and Lifeguard supervision too risky to manage.

  3. No 'mermaid fins' to be used by children during lane free swimming, as they are potentially dangerous.

  4. No intentional splashing.

  5. No large inflatables allowed. Small inflatables for support may be permitted if allowed by the Lifeguard.

  6. Ball games are strictly forbidden in the pool and pool compound

  7. No flippers.

ACCESS NEEDS:

We have some limitations in our access, and we’re looking to improve this. If you have access needs and feel you may need support, please contact us before booking your pool slot at ruh-tr.swimmingpool@nhs.net We are committed to working on a case by case basis to make the pool as accessible as we can.
