Details

This essential online training session empowers school staff to tackle misogyny and promote gender equality across both primary and secondary phases. Through a blend of current legislation, updated DfE RSHE guidance (2025), and practical strategies, delegates will deepen their understanding of misogyny—its origins, impact on children and young people, and how it manifests in school life.

The session offers actionable strategies to embed respectful relationships and inclusion throughout the curriculum, assemblies, and wider school culture, while fostering a safer, more equitable environment for all pupils.

Delegates will:

• Develop an understanding of misogyny, its roots, and its impact on children and young people in both primary and secondary contexts
• Learn about the current legislation and guidance relevant to addressing misogyny and promoting gender equality, including the new updated DfE RSHE guidance 2025
• Explore practical resources and strategies to challenge misogyny through the curriculum, assemblies, and wider school life
• Consider Ofsted requirements and expectations in relation to tackling misogyny and promoting respectful relationships
• Reflect on the importance of a whole-school approach to preventing misogyny, fostering respect, and supporting equality and inclusion

This training session is suitable for both primary and secondary phase SLT, PSHE/RSE subject leads, teachers, pastoral staff, safeguarding leads, and other colleagues who want to strengthen their school’s approach to tackling misogyny and promoting gender equality.

This session will be delivered by Catherine Kirk. Catherine has worked in the RSHE field for over 20 years, as an author, trainer, and teacher. She has led RSHE development and support for two local authorities and is the founder of National RSE Day, a celebration of education around healthy relationships and positive sex education that is held in June each year.
