Sam Stephen - Makaton

After years of participating and learning Makaton, I qualified as a Makaton Tutor in 2021. I run a variety of Makaton workshops in-person, and online, all over the UK, and internationally, too.

In 2024 I became an Ambassador for The Makaton Charity, and I own MakaTots Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire - so, there is a lot of Makaton in my life.

Aside from Makaton, after leaving school, I studied contemporary dance and classical ballet, then I moved to London to further my professional training in Musical Theatre. My performing career has taken me all around the world, stages big and small. I’ve always maintained a commitment to the arts in the Northeast of Scotland - where I grew up. Whether in education, healthcare, social service, and additional government-funded services, I develop initiatives for children, young people and their families, partnering with lots of fantastic organisations in the region through my non-profit called, Yellow Jeans.

I have a particular interest working in the world of disability, whether physical, or cognitive, I’m passionate about driving inclusion and diverse voices throughout communities, offering vital support at the intersection of accessing public services.

Happy to welcome you to my Makaton workshops, if you have any questions, please get in touch here: sam@yellowjeans.co.uk
