It is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns which are called tangles. Tangles are created using a series of steps and elemental strokes similar to dots, lines, simple curves, s-curve, and orbs. Zentangle art is non-representational.
Zentangle is an abstract art form where the artists draws repetitive, simple patterns. Usually the patterns are drawn using a black marker on white paper and sometimes the artist will colour them in.
Zendoodling has its roots in Zentangling and shares many similar qualities - focus, design, repetitive tangle patterns BUT it can be in colour, on any size paper, a specific shape (eg: word, letter, animal) and may have a top and bottom. Think of a Zendoodle or Zentangle Inspired Art.
Four types of tangle art are popular today: Zentangle, Zen doodle, freeform & Zentangle-inspired. They all use repetitive patterns and have key differences
