Details

Fungi have formed an important part of human medicine for many millennia, from the ancient Egyptian uses of Penicillium
moulds to traditional Chinese medicinal uses of bracket fungi. Many of our modern antibiotics are produced by fungi, along with other ground-breaking drugs such as statins, immune suppressants and more. This talk will cover a general introduction of the main medicinal mushrooms, their active compounds, their role in folk medicine and modern evidence-based mycotherapy. Our speaker, Attila Fodi is a Field mycologist, specialised to polypores and medicinal mushrooms. He uses ancient Chinese sources (in their original version, not only from translations, because he speaks and read Chinese), Eastern and Central European ethnomycological sources and the most up-to-date scientific publications to bring us closer the fantastic world of fungal medicines.
