Our Coaches

Emma is a Swim England level 2 teacher in addition to her OWS qualification. She specialises in teaching beginners and those wishing to improve their technique - especially those wishing to transition from breaststroke to front crawl or adjust their front crawl for sea swimming.

Emma is a proud Brighton girl, born and bred and has been dipping and playing in the sea all her life. She began to swim more seriously ten years ago when she herself had lessons. This is when her passion for distance swimming began. Emma strongly believes in the healing powers of the sea and wants to share this passion with all ages and abilities.

Christine is a STA Open Water Swim Coach trained by the best in the business, double world champion Keri-Anne Payne. She also has various swim teaching and life saving qualifications and is a Channel Swim Association Observer.

Christine grew up in Saltdean and remembers most of that being in the sea! She loves the wonderful feeling of freedom it gives and the different conditions that tides and weather decide to present. She says "Nothing is more wonderful than helping others overcome fear to realise the delights of the sea swimming, improve strokes and stamina and realise dreams, what ever they may be. I am delighted to be part of the Seabirds!"

For the sea you will need,
Goggles, brightly coloured swim hat, swim suit, tow float if you have one, neoprene accessories of your choices including gloves, socks, wetsuits and lots of warm layers to change into after the swim.
A warm drink and lots of water are also recommended.
