HSE Health Promotion & Improvement South East Community Healthcare

The Health Promotion and Improvement (HP&I) Department is part of the Health and Wellbeing division. Health Promotion is the process of enabling and working with individuals and communities to increase control over the determinants of health and thereby improve their health. This is done through building healthy public policy, creating supportive environments, strengthening community action, developing personal skills and reorienting the health service so there is a focus on promotion of health and prevention of ill-health rather than solely on treatment services.
Training is an essential and core component of building the capacity of other stakeholders and practitioners to support and implement health promotion programmes and activities.
Health Promotion and Improvement offers a full range of evidence-based national standardised training programmes across various settings, topics and population groups. These trainings offer the opportunity for participants to enhance their knowledge and skills in specific areas and to avail of continuing professional development credits
