Space at Bay of Plenty Playcentres

Space for you and your baby at Bay of Plenty Playcentres would love to share in your parenting journey. At Space you and your baby will connect with other new parents & their babies as you explore parenting & children's development in a safe, facilitated environment. Your Space group will meet weekly, giving you & your baby the chance to make real connections during your baby's first year.

At Space you and your baby will explore music & movement, rhymes, books & a variety of play experiences. You will discover ways to support & extend your baby's learning & development, including ideas & opportunities for play experiences at home. You will get to consider different parenting perspectives, perhaps find out some new information, & have some great, facilitated discussions as you discover ways that work for you & your baby.

Topics discussed may include:
Sleeping & crying
Becoming a parent
Establishing attachment
The beauty of the brain (brain development & early experiences)
Expressing myself (communication & language development)
Treasure baskets, heuristic play & exploration of play
Physical development (fine & big muscle co-ordination)
A sense of me & others (socialisation)

Programme Fee: We are excited to announce that we have been able to find additional funding which means the fee to attend Space is now $35 per term. The programme runs for 3 school terms (terms are approx. 10 weeks). An invoice will be emailed to you after your group starts and termly thereafter, with payment via internet banking or through any branch of ASB (as detailed on your invoice). The programme fee is charged once per family, it is the same rate for twins or multiples.

WINZ Childcare Assistance is available for Space at Playcentre Aotearoa programmes. WINZ Childcare Assistance is ‘means’ tested and requires both parents to disclose financial information. If you would like forms sent to you please Emma If facing financial difficulties please email Emma

Families enrol at one centre, and commit to attending that programme regularly. Babies joining a new Space session are generally between 3 weeks and 4 months of age and parents stay on session with their babies. If your babies age is not catered for in groups below you might be able to join an existing programme. We are also on Instagram #spacebopplaycentres we post on both platforms when bookings open.

WAIT LISTS - If the course you want to join is fully booked you can join the wait list - please click on the session you want to join below, then click the 'Join Wait List' box and fill in the details. If the wait list becomes numerous we are often able to start another group, please register on the wait list so we can see who is waiting to join.
