safeTALK stands for suicide alertness for everyone. It is a 4 hour workshop which prepares participants to identify persons with thoughts of suicide and connect them to suicide first aid resources. These skills include learning the key steps of Tell, Ask, Listen and Keepsake which are taught with the hope that the person learning them will use them to help reduce suicide risk in a personal and/or professional capacity.
safeTALK is fully funded by the HSE National Office for Suicide Prevention but booking is essential.
safeTALK offers valuable skills to formal and informal participants which requires no formal training or prior experience in suicide prevention. However, we recommend that all those attending have completed the online Let's Talk About Suicide prior to completing safeTALK.
safeTALK is only available to those aged 18 years and over.
Due to the emotional content of safeTALK, it is advised that those who have been bereaved by suicide do not attend this workshop until they feel emotionally capable of doing so.
