Details

Do you have lots of costume ideas and find the outfits as riveting as the plot? Fancy a week's introduction to the role of a costumier to see if it's something you may wish to pursue or maybe just to enjoy as an experience?

There are so many different productions that require imaginative and convincingly made Bridgerton? Black Mirror? Game of Thrones? Cirque du Soleil? Maybe there's an Oscar for costume waiting for you in the future!

You will work on an inspiring brief complied by both Tshala Castle and Clinton Lotter. Clinton works as a costume designer in TV and film production, many of the programmes will be familiar to you. Tshala designs dance, performance, theatre and circus wear. Learn about corset making, dancewear techniques, creating sci-fi effects or whatever area of costume you’d like to explore.

The week will be busy and intensive and you will learn how to create a garment that can be functional as well as detailed. Use unusual fabrics to create drama, volume or and impact and specialist techniques too. Expect to make either one or two pieces (ie a cape, corset, headpiece, dress, bodysuit etc.) depending on how complex your design is.
