Beccles Forest Schools & Learning in Nature CIC

At Beccles Forest Schools, we fiercely protect the right to play freely. We are person-centred and wholly embedded in the natural world, which meets the learning, development and well-being needs of us all. We celebrate participants’ autonomy over the spaces they explore, and foster their innate curiosity and connection, in a community that cherishes them.

We work with an inspiring team of skilled professionals to run a wide range of Forest School and outdoor learning opportunities from The Wild Meadow, by Beccles Common, for learners of all ages, including drop-off Kindergarten, After School, Youth Group and Home Ed Forest Schools, Stay and Play and Saturday Family sessions, 1:1 sessions, for visiting schools and pre-schools, Wild Well-being and Support Groups to combat social isolation and promote community and social inclusion, apprenticeships, and Continued Professional Development training. Many of these groups are subsidised by both local and international councils, charities and foundations.

Vision Statement: To make every day we spend in the natural world an opportunity to freely play- to explore our relationship with the nearby wild world, and each other, creating sustainable well-being for all.

Our Values Are: Kindness, generosity and fairness. Learning, in the widest sense of the word. Free play & fun at all times. Strong relationships & a sense of belonging. An unconditional positive regard for all. Integrity in all we do.

We Are: Strong. Resilient. Qualified. Experienced. Community-minded. Flexible & responsive. Passionate. Diverse. Empathic. Reflective. Supportive.

We follow the full principles and criteria of Forest School, as outlined by the Forest School Association. If you would like to read more about this please go to https://forestschoolassociation.org/full-principles-and-criteria-for-good-practice/

In short, we follow:

  1. The long-term principle - we encourage half-termly bookings whenever possible
  2. The nature principle - we have woodland, meadow and water to fully experience nature in all ways
  3. Community - we keep our sessions at a reasonable price to reflect our community's needs, and offer sessions to all
  4. Risk - we love having fun with people taking new risks and finding new limits
  5. Holistic learning - all leaders work hard to relate what is hapening to everything else in the participant's life and world
  6. Leadership - groups are led by qualified staff.
