This course is aimed to train you as a MENOPAUSE CHAMPION and only open for workforce working in Health and social care in South Yorkshire. This course will enhance your knowledge in awareness about menopause but NOT sign you off to be a trainer.

We will cover why we're talking about menopause now, what it is, its signs and symptoms and ways of managing them and employment law. We will cover the 4 compelling reasons why we need to support menopause in the workplace, the key menopause information line managers need to understand, and how to have a supportive conversation. We will include interactive discussions on reasonable adjustments and supportive conversations

This interactive module enables a lot of discussion and covers all the key areas for colleagues and line managers sessions. Using the menopause video to help attendees set the scene and context and our 3-stage process for colleagues which takes them through symptoms, their personal philosophy on managing them, what their next steps would be and top tips for conversations with their GP. The line manager guide will cover what they need to know about menopause, their role as a line manager and how to have a supportive conversation around menopause.

You will have the opportunity to understand the content in great depth and following the training, run facilitated sessions within your own organisation.

All participants will be invited to the ‘SY ICS Menopause Advocacy Forum’ who meet monthly and commit to deliver training / awareness sessions within their organisation.

The following menopause advocacy training course is made up of two parts:

Sessions aimed at Colleagues
We will take you through a colleague session and share the video so you leave this session feeling confident in your knowledge of menopause. Includes interactive polls and knowledge quizzes.
We will cover why we're talking about menopause now, what it is, its symptoms and ways of managing them and how to get the right support

Sessions aimed at Line Managers
We will take you through a line manager session. The focus will be on what a line manager needs to know and needs to feel confident in. We will cover the 4 compelling reasons why we need to support menopause in the workplace, the key menopause information line managers need to understand, employment law and reasonable adjustments, and how to have a supportive conversation. We will include interactive discussions on reasonable adjustments and supportive conversations.

We will introduce you to Part 2 of the programme. You are required to attend both sessions before being signed off as a Menopause advocate.
