An educational and inspirational talk by Hazel Carter about coming to terms with about involuntary childlessness.
Growing up Hazel expected to get married and have a family, but life had a different plan. After discovering she needed major surgery to prevent ill health, Hazel had to come to terms with never being a mother.
After descending into depression post surgery she had to work on her mindset to find a new way at looking at her life, and find other ways to be a mother.
Hazel was born in North Devon, the eldest of 5 children. She has lived in the Solihull area for 30 years and has 7 nephew/nieces and 9 great nephews/nieces. In 2022 she donated a kidney to her brother.
Before she published her book (Life’s good, it’s the disease that’s the problem) in 2023, she was a board director in business specialising in key account management, marketing and acquisitions.
Today, in addition to being a highly rated public speaker, Hazel is a Trustee on the board of the MND Association and a volunteer at Marie Curie Hospice. She has been interviewed by BBC Radio many times, and her story has been told on 5 podcasts as well as in articles on the Open University and Hospice UK websites.
