INTRODUCTION & OVERVIEW

Aims
This module provides an overview of the various tests applied to different benefits that can be claimed by European Economic Area nationals.

Objectives
By the end of the course participants will:
• Know which benefits have a presence test, which benefits have a residence test and which benefits are subject to the Habitual Residence Test;
• Have gained an awareness of the different Right to Reside categories and how they can help EEA nationals satisfy the eligibility rules for means tested benefits.

Methods of delivery
This course is delivered online live with a BTC trainer. It is a practical course delivered using a combination of trainer presentation, exercises and case studies, group discussion and games. Participants will be provided with e-learning supporting material including PowerPoint slides and a comprehensive training pack.

Intended audience
This course is for staff working with non-British European nationals. No previous experience is required although a working knowledge of the wider benefits system is assumed.

Certificate and post course support
You will receive an e-certificate for each module you complete. To be eligbile for access to our free 12 months post-course advice service (including monthly webinars) you will need to complete four BTC online course modules. Although we advise completing Parts 1-4 of this course, you can combine any 4 parts of any BTC course for access to support.
