Saturday 12th October 2025
Forest school fun; typical activities may include lots of digging and mixing with mud kitchen resources, scavenger hunts, campfire, tool use, snack time, and natural art.
This session is a great opportunity to spend some time together as a family in the fresh air with lots of fun thrown in.
We typically we spend up to an hour doing activities around the centre and then and venture down to the stream together for a campfire.
Activities are available for children/young people to join in with but there is no pressure, they can simply explore the area if this is their preference.
Saltburn Valley Woodland Centre
Please familiarise yourself with the location of the venue prior to the day.
The centre and grounds are wheelchair friendly, when we access the stream this is via a path and then onto a flat area of woodland.
Please bring a drink for your child and yourself if you wish, a snack will be provided.
There are toilets at the centre.
Other than recognised service/assistance dogs there to support a person attending the session we do not allow dogs.
Please put your child's name in the booking field
We go ahead in most weathers so please be prepared to get wet, come in waterproofs if rain is forecast. We do have use of inside the centre so in the case of persistent rain some time may be spent indoors. In the event of very high winds/stormy weather we may need to cancel for safety reasons.

The Woodland Centre is located in Saltburn woodland and parking is about a 10 minute walk - if you have a blue badge there is one space available near the centre which is on a first come basis, if you would like to know how to find this parking space please email woodswaves2022@gmail.com and I will signpost you.
Otherwise you can park on Albion Terrace (no charge) near the play park and walk down the valley - once you see an area of picnic benches that is the top of the woodland centre gardens - walk down through the gardens and the centre is at the bottom.
Alternatively park at cat nab car park (chargeable) and walk up the valley - follow the track of the miniature railway and at the end of the track cross the bridge and head to the valley gardens tea room, continue up the path and you will find the woodland centre.
