Now for the fourth year running, our popular Winter Wellness Class is here to help you embrace the season with warmth and balance. These cooler months are the perfect time to slow down—rest, improve sleep, and enjoy moments of quiet reflection and meditation.
With a carefully blended mixture of yin, restorative, and NSDR (Non-Sleep Deep Rest) practices, alongside gentle meditation and nervous system exercises, this hour is designed to boost your immunity. By calming the nervous system, we lower stress hormones that can suppress immune function, stimulate the lymphatic system to release toxins, and increase circulation of oxygenated blood to vital organs, supporting your body’s natural defenses. Meditation and breathing practices further enhance parasympathetic activation, helping the body relax, recover, and strengthen its resilience to seasonal challenges.
As winter approaches, with its short days, overcast skies, and biting cold, we enter the season of kapha (earth and water elements) and vata (air and space elements). The dry winds or damp, heavy air can leave us feeling unbalanced, making self-care even more essential.
Mental well-being is equally vital during these months, when feelings of anxiety or seasonal affective disorder (SAD) may arise. By regularly checking in with yourself through this gentle, restorative practice, including meditation and nervous system work, you can stay grounded, centered, and resilient, allowing your body and mind to thrive throughout the colder season.
This practice can be slower at times than a regular Yoga practice.
Bolsters, bricks, blankets and eye masks will be offered to encourage your body to find the right shape for you.
The studio is heated to a comfortable level, but please bring layers as the body can cool quickly when relaxing.
Water is available in the studio area.
