π What is Acorn Play?
Acorn Play is a Forest School-inspired outdoor learning and play group for all children. We welcome toddlers, pre-schoolers, school-aged children, and their families, to join in our magical woodland adventures in a safe, secure, and stimulating outdoor environment. Open throughout the holidays, with additional Adventure Plus + sessions for older children (5+) and special seasonal sessions at the woodland or inside The Elk Tipi (Elkstone Studios)
π What is the aim of Acorn Play?
Our aim is to get more young children connecting with and developing a deep love for nature, in an environment that helps them to learn through adventure and play. We mirror the Forest School ethos and its Scandinavian roots, while weaving elements of the Early Years Curriculum into open-ended activities and themes. Our holistic approach invites children to freely follow their curiosities alongside others, make new discoveries using natural resources, and learn simple bush-craft that that builds confidence and self-esteem. The beautiful red cedar trees at base camp offer a sheltered space for our community to come together.
π Who is Acorn Play?
Acorn Play has been founded by Hannah Hart; experienced Infant Teacher of 13 years + and Forest School Leader. The session includes group times at base camp where children and their families can engage in a range of singing, storytelling, movement and drama. Some sessions may also include tool work or campfires. A snack is also included, and usually cooked on the camp fire * Hannah is passionate about learning through play, experiential learning and the great outdoors.
