Croydon Sailing Club RYA Learn To Sail Courses
A 16 hour course on either two consecutive days or evening course spread over 7 sessions ( 5 practical and 2 online) aimed at teaching adult beginners how to rig, launch and sail a dinghy on South Norwood lake. The course is an introduction to the theory of sailing and through practical exercises a beginner learns how to control a dighy on water with only the power of the wind. Sailing is a sport that requires flexibility to manoevre the body in a confined space in the boat but the club has adults taking up this sport on retirement and has a thriving group of older adults who regularly sail on the lake. Course fees include RYA Level 1 certificate, handbook, logbook and club equipment plus 6 months membership of the club so that on completion of the course, further practice of skills taught can take place at Go Sailing sessions using club boats.
