Little Twigs Loughborough: Forest School Woodland Playgroup
🌿 Welcome to Little Twigs! 🌿
A relaxed outdoor woodland playgroup where little ones can explore, get creative and spend time out in nature. Our sessions offer child-led, free-flow play with a variety of activities to encourage curiosity, creativity and development, all while enjoying time outdoors together.
What to Expect in a Session
Each session offers a variety of outdoor activities, including:
Thursday & Fridays:
🌿 Time to explore woodland stations and sensory play
🌿 Messy play such as paint, mud kitchen and natural materials
🌿 Outdoor play with sand and diggers
🌿 Creative activities to spark curiosity, exploration and imagination
🌿 Opportunities to play, socialise and enjoy time together in nature
We finish each session with songs together. You're welcome to bring snacks for your child, and hot drinks are always available for all.
Tiny Twigs sessions:
🌿 Begin together for songs.
🌿 Time to explore activities in the woods with your baby, such as hammocks, sensory activities and seasonal activities.
🌿 End the session around the campfire for a few more songs, and then the option for adults to toast a marshmallow or Babybel to enjoy.
All sessions are very relaxed, so don't worry if you're running late or need to leave early. Take it all at your own pace!

Wednesdays: Tiny Twigs Babies (0–18 months)
Thursdays: Little Twigs (0–6 years)
Fridays: Little Twigs (0–6 years)

How to Find Us
Sessions take place in the woodland belonging to St Mary in Charnwood Church in Nanpantan, just on the edge of Loughborough. If you're approaching from the crossroads by The Priory pub, we're at the first turning on your left. Look out for the Little Twigs bunting!
Booking update – transfers until 8am on the day
I have recently made a change to my booking policy to offer families a little more flexibility.
If you're unable to attend, you can now transfer your booking to another date at any point in advance, up until 8am on the morning of your session. This allows for the occasional illness while still giving me time to try and fill the space. Just let me know by email, WhatsApp or Instagram message.
A Little About Me
My name is Kate and I'm a mum of three - a five year old boy and twin girls aged three, so I understand the joys and challenges of raising young children! I created Little Twigs to offer a relaxed, welcoming and supportive space where families can enjoy the outdoors together.
My background includes:
Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification
A degree in Primary Education and a Master's degree in Education
15 years of primary teaching experience
Outdoor and paediatric first aid qualifications
And plenty of experience spending time outside!
A lot of my favourite memories as a child were being outside. My father was a local expert lepidopterologist (moths and butterflies!) so we spent a lot of time out in woodlands of Leicestershire (mostly in the middle of the night, but in the day time too!). Sharing this wonderful world of nature through Forest School is something I love about what I do. I believe there is real magic in playing and spending time together outside. There really is no better way to boost wellbeing for you and your child.
