RUH POOL ALERTS
The RUH Pool will close at the end of September 2025. The last day the pool will be open will be Tuesday 30th September - We'd like to thank all of our customers for a great 2025 season, and we hope to see you again in the new Pool season in spring 2026. We welcome feedback on went well or suggestions for improvements, so please email any feedback to ruh-tr.swimmingpool@nhs.net
Complimentary tickets now available for Pregnant women and people, and Carers - Pregnant women and people should show the Pool Attendant some evidence of current pregnancy on arrival at the pool, for example maternity prescription exemption. Carers must be using the pool in their capacity as a Carer, i.e. to look after someone while swimming.
Summer Holiday schedule - You may have noticed a change to our schedule during the weeks of the school summer holidays (23rd July until 1st September). We have opened more lane free slots during the week to enable more family swims. As well as the two afternoon slots, we are opening 3 slots in the mornings. Of course, fitness swimmers are also welcome, but you will not have a designated lane. Please spread the word! After the summer holidays, we will move back to our normal schedule, with more lane slots during weekdays.
Refund delays - Please note, due to staff shortages there are currently delays in customers receiving refunds. If you have requested a refund via email or are expecting one because the pool was unexpectedly closed, please rest assured that you will receive your refund as soon as possible. Apologies for the delay.
A reminder when transferring your booking - Please note, you will note be able to transfer a booking less than 24 hours before your swim slot, so others have a chance to re-book. Please note, this rule has recently changed, so if you were not aware of this change and are now unable to transfer a slot, please email us your booking code and request a refund.
RUH POOL INFORMATION
Highlights of the 2025 RUH Pool Season - The RUH Pool is open for the 2025 season! We've introduced the following for this season:
- The discounted price and priority booking (1 week in advance) for RUH Staff is now available for all RUH Volunteers - this includes volunteers from 'Friends of the RUH', 'RUHX' and 'Dorothy House - Compassionate Companions'.
- Back by popular demand, individual 30 minute lane swimming slots will be available - £4.50 for RUH Staff/Volunteers, £5.50 for Non-staff. These will be in the morning, over lunchtime and after work, to enable our RUH staff/volunteers and regular fitness swimmers to do an early morning, lunch, or after-work swim.
- Introducing new 1 hour general (lane free) swim sessions (previously 2 hours). Reduced price £3.00 for RUH Staff/Volunteers and £4.00 for Non-staff.
- Because general swims are now 1 hour, we are introducing more - 2 swims every weekday afternoon and 2-3 in the morning AND afternoon during weekends.
- During summer holidays there will also be multiple 1 hour lane free slots in the morning and afternoons.
- All staff fully trained NPLQ lifeguards, and pool safety processes have been improved.
We're looking forward to seeing you! As usual, slots will be available 3 weeks in advance for RUH Staff/Volunteers, and 2 weeks in advance for Non-staff.
Pool rules - Pool rules are below and should be followed by all users - no exceptions. The application of the Pool Rules below is decided solely by the Lifeguard on duty. The Pool rules were reviewed in 2024 by the Royal Lifesaving Society – please note changes to rules around Supervision for Children, and rules for lane and lane-free Swimming.
Responsibility for belongings - Pool users are responsible for their belongings. The RUH bears no responsibility for the loss or damage of any items brought to the pool by users.
Access needs - We have some limitations in our access, and we’re looking to improve this. If you have access needs and feel you may need support, please contact us before booking your pool slot at ruh-tr.swimmingpool@nhs.net We are committed to working on a case by case basis to make the pool as accessible as we can.
Closure of the Pool at short notice - Very occasionally the pool may need to close at the last minute due to unforeseen circumstances, such as a Pool Attendant calling in sick. If this happens, we will post it here, so we strongly encourage all swimmers to check this page before leaving for your booked swim. We apologise in advance if this happens - you should be emailed with details.
Missing slots in the schedule - You may notice that on some days, some slots in the morning or afternoon are missing. This is usually because there is not a Lifeguard available to work the shift, or the pool is closed for training or RUH staff activities. These are likely only a handful per month.
Changing/Transferring a slot date/time - If you have booked a slot and want to change the date/time, click 'View Booking' in your confirmation email. This should open a browser page with details of your booking. Click 'Ticket Options' and select the option to change your slot - follow the instructions and book your new slot date/time. Please note, you will not be able to transfer a booking less than 24 hours before your swim slot, so others have a chance to re-book.
Cancellations and refunds - If you want to cancel your slot and get a refund, this should be done more than 48 hours before your swim time, otherwise you will not get a refund. Go to your booking email, click View Booking and cancel your slot. Once this is done, email the booking code (ideally just forward the email you receive confirming that the booking has been cancelled) to ruh-tr.swimmingpool@nhs.net and request a refund. Please be patient when you have requested a refund - we are extremely short staffed and receive hundreds of emails during the season, each which needs to be investigated individually and takes time. Please rest assured that if you have requested a refund, we will get to it eventually - there is no need to send chaser emails.
