RUH Bath Swimming Pool

RUH POOL RULES

General Rules:

  1. RUH Lifeguards are provided to maintain safety in the pool. The application of the Pool Rules below is decided solely by the Lifeguard on duty. Their ruling is not up for dispute and should be respected by all pool users. Users who do not respect this, who are abusive to staff, or do not follow their instructions will be asked not to return to the Pool.

  2. All swimmers swim at their own risk.

  3. RUH staff, volunteers and their immediate families can book up to 3 weeks in advance (staff member's badge must be shown on entry), non-RUH staff can book up to 2 weeks in advance.

  4. All swimmers must report to the Pool Attendant on duty before entering the pool.

  5. All swimmers should shower before using the pool.

  6. Shoes must not be worn in the changing rooms.

  7. Normal swim wear must be worn in the pool.

  8. Bicycles are not permitted in the pool compound.

  9. No running permitted within the pool compound at any time.

  10. No alcohol or glass is allowed within the pool compound.

  11. No eating in the pool.

  12. Smoking and or vaping is not allowed within the pool compound.

  13. All pool users should pay a separate fee, regardless of age.

Rules for Children:

  1. Children must be a minimum of 11 years old to be allowed to swim without a parent/Guardian.

  2. Children under 11 must be accompanied by a parent/Guardian.

  3. Children under 11 are only allowed to use the Pool for Lane-Free Swimming. At all times they must be kept under constant supervision by their parent/Guardian. If this does not happen, the Lifeguard will ask the child and the parent/guardian to leave the pool.

  4. The maximum number of children under 11 years old that can be supervised by 1x adult is 2x children.

  5. Children under 6 months old are not allowed in the pool at any time.

  6. Children still using nappies are required to wear commercially recognised swimming versions in the pool.

Lane swimming rules:

  1. All other pool rules should be followed.

  2. Children under 11 are not permitted in lane swimming sessions.

  3. Lane swimming is allowed only for confident swimmers who can swim lengths of the pool repeatedly. This is decided at the discretion of the Lifeguard on duty and their judgement is not for dispute (see Rule 1).

Lane-free swimming rules:

  1. All other pool rules should be followed.

  2. No child/adult parties. Lane-free swimming is to enable families and individuals who do not want to swim in lanes to be able to enjoy the pool. Please do not book tickets in bulk for parties, as our pool is not large enough for this purpose, and it makes parental/guardian and Lifeguard supervision too risky to manage.

  3. No 'mermaid fins' to be used by children during lane free swimming, as they are potentially dangerous.

  4. No intentional splashing.

  5. No large inflatables allowed. Small inflatables for support may be permitted if allowed by the Lifeguard.

  6. Ball games are strictly forbidden in the pool and pool compound

  7. No flippers.
