Nepacs Training

Nepacs is a long standing charity working in the north of England to support and enhance the lives of people as they navigate the justice or social care systems, ensuring they always have someone trusted by their side, aiding understanding, facilitating wellbeing and promoting positive choices.

The charity offers a range of training courses for professionals working with children and families including training to help increase awareness of the needs of prisoners' families and those impacted by the care system, and how agencies can work together to support them.

We deliver a range of training workshops for professionals, including:

  • Hidden Sentence training: a full day training course (delivered virtually in two parts) on the impact of imprisonment on prisoners families and how those families can be better supported.
  • Hidden Sentence awareness sessions: we deliver 2.5 hour awareness sessions for anyone who would like a brief introduction to understanding the needs of children and families impacted by a relative's imprisonment and some information on where to access support and information.
  • Listening support skills: a 2.5 hour workshop to assist frontline staff and volunteers refresh and improve their communication skills in order to offer a professional and supportive listening service.
  • Care leaver awareness: a 3 hour virtual session for those working with young people in both a community and custodial setting. The course explores what it means to be a care leaver and the potential issues faced by care experienced people. The course also gives awareness on the rights and entitlements of legal care leavers aged 18 to 25 years.
  • Parental Rights in Custody or the Community: a 2.5 hour awareness course which looks at the legalities of parental rights and the challenges and barriers parents face in exercising their parental rights and remaining an active parent. This includes a bespoke course looking at barriers parents in custody face.

Unfortunately we are unable to offer refunds. Should you be unable to attend, please inform us at least 7 days prior to your training course and we will endeavour to move you to an alternative date.
