A 2-day workshop with Nikki Ashley & Morag Donnelly
The art of dancing toward the intimate
Meeting ourselves in the intimacy of the dance space, meeting others one to one, and meeting the whole group can open us to deeper connection. It can also, perhaps, stifle our spontaneity & freedom of expression. We are responding to the call and deeply felt need of fellow dancers to explore this inspiring, crucial and always present theme.
Offering new ways to encounter ourselves & others through shared reflective conversation & simple intuitive touch based drawing exercises. Together with immersing ourselves in the map of 5Rhythms. Each rhythm connecting us to a quality of the movements of intimacy; Flowing grounds our sensuality, Staccato clarifies our boundaries, Chaos breaks open our raw and wild nature, Lyrical liberates our playfulness and in Stillness we are met by the quiet grace of our presence.
A laboratory space to draw, dance and play - to find out who else and what else is being experienced in these dance floor connections

Are we welcome when we need distance?
Will our ‘no’ be as encouraged as our ‘yes’?

No prior experience in making art is needed, it is recommended you have at least a beginners moving knowledge of the 5Rhythms waves map.

please note entrance to the school is via Boundaries Road through the main green gates and then the side gate to your right - that will be open - follow the path round to your left (around the side of the building) and enter the building through the south building open double doors , turn first right and walk down towards the canteen - the theatre is first set of double doors on the left - (before the canteen ) we will have someone on the door to welcome you

there will be a lunch break mid-way
A note on Timings
Doors open 20mins before the start and arrival music is on for you to begin to stretch and prepare - Please arrive then in order to be ready to start promptly on time. Doors close 15mins after the start of workshop in order to create a safe held container. There will be no entry after this time.
What to wear
Dress ready to move, loose comfortable clothes and layers are recommended / all the art materials are fully washable but you may want to consider when choosing clothing
Please wear a soft soled shoe or barefoot - no socks or outdoor shoes on the dance floor
Please refrain from wearing perfumes or using other fragrances.
What to bring
Do bring some water in a reusable container to keep yourself hydrated
A good pencil - not HB - a softer pencil 4B 6B is great, graphite (one that runs in water, not coloured)
A journal, or paper, and pen - Optional

a word about tickets
Numbers are limited to give us space to dance comfortably together. Please be generous if you can, a full price ticket helps us offer reduced and concession places. thank you. 10% of ticket sales are contributed to our community interest company which supports our reach out work.

Refunds are offered up to 48hrs before the workshop (with a £2.50 admin fee per ticket) Dancers are also permitted to gift/sell on their ticket or contact welcome@unboundmovingarts.com to activate the waiting list (if there is one) If ticket sells on the waiting list you will be refunded minus an £2.50 admin fee - waiting list is offered up to 8am on the day of the workshop.
