Welcome to Our Yoga Studio
Why come to class?
Online videos are wonderful. They’re convenient, there when you need them and can be a lovely way to fit a little movement into a busy day.
But there’s something different about actually coming to class.
When you step through the door, you’ve made a small commitment to yourself. For the next hour, there’s no washing to put away, phone to check or temptation to stop the video halfway through because something else needs doing.
You’ve arrived. And that time is yours.
There’s also a teacher there with you. Someone who can notice when you might need another option, help you find a movement that feels better in your body, encourage you when you’re unsure and sometimes gently remind you that you’re capable of a little more than you thought.
And then there are the other people.
There’s something rather lovely about moving, breathing, wobbling, resting and occasionally laughing together.
Researchers sometimes describe the uplifting feeling we experience when sharing something with others as collective effervescence — that sense of connection and shared energy that can come from being part of a group.
Perhaps that’s why people so often tell me they walk out of the studio feeling a little different from when they walked in.
A little calmer.
A little lighter.
Sometimes a little stronger.
And often simply glad they came.
You don’t have to be sociable. You don’t have to know anyone. And you certainly don’t have to be ‘good at yoga’.
Just come in, find your space and let us take care of the rest.
Because sometimes what we need isn’t another video to watch. It’s somewhere to go.
