Alpaca Treks

Alpaca treks are the perfect way to meet our herd. During your 90 minute trek, each participant will be paired with their own carefully selected alpaca for a walk along our beautiful private farm track, with plenty of opportunities to take photographs.

This activity is perfect for anyone aged 16 or over who would like a more hands on experience and the opportunity to build a bond with an individual alpaca.

If you cannot comfortably walk for 90 minutes, feel nervous around animals, would prefer a gentler activity, have already enjoyed one of our treks or have someone aged 15 or under in your group, we recommend booking one of our alpaca experiences instead. Please return to our website and follow the appropriate link.

Before booking, please read the guidelines below to make sure the trek is suitable for you.

Important Information

A. Age Restrictions

For insurance reasons, no one aged 15 or under can take part in or accompany an alpaca trek.

If anyone in your group is aged 15 or under, please book one of our alpaca experiences instead: https://bookwhen.com/natterjackexperience

B. Handling Your Alpaca

Although our alpacas are extensively trained, they are still animals and may occasionally become excited or jump.

All participants must be confident that they can keep a secure hold of the lead rope throughout the trek.

C. Walking Requirements

The experience lasts approximately 90 minutes. Once the walking part of the trek begins, there are no shortcuts back to the car park.

All participants must be able to walk comfortably for the full duration.

D. Footwear and Clothing

Suitable footwear is compulsory, as we will be walking across grass.

During summer, we recommend trainers or walking boots. During winter, walking boots or wellington boots are best.

Footwear must fully cover your toes throughout the year. Umbrellas are not permitted, so please bring suitable waterproof clothing if rain is forecast.

E. Accessibility

Due to the nature of the ground, we cannot accommodate wheelchairs, walking aids or prams on our alpaca treks.

Please contact us before booking to discuss your requirements. We will do our best to arrange a suitable bespoke activity for your group.

F. Insect Repellent

As the trek takes place around animals in open countryside, we recommend using insect repellent.

G. Dogs

Dogs are not permitted, including guide and assistance dogs.

H. Weather

Our treks run in most weather conditions and will not be cancelled because of rain.

Treks will only be cancelled in the event of thunderstorms or dangerous local road conditions. If we need to cancel, we will contact you as soon as possible to rearrange your activity.

I. Arrival Times

Please arrive between five and ten minutes before your trek begins. A guide will collect you from your car when we are ready for the session to start.

If you expect to be late, please contact us as soon as possible.

J. Cancellations, Transfers and Refunds

We do not offer refunds.

If you give us at least seven days’ notice of a cancellation, we will transfer the value of your booking to a gift voucher valid for 12 months.

Cancellations and transfer requests made with fewer than seven days’ notice are not eligible for a gift voucher, transfer or refund, and the full value of the booking will be lost. All requests must be made by email.

If you booked using a gift voucher, the value paid with that voucher will be returned to the original voucher and will remain subject to its original expiry date.

Any additional amount paid will be issued as a separate gift voucher valid for 12 months. Transferring your booking will not extend the original voucher’s expiry date.

K. Late Arrivals for Public Treks

If you arrive late for a public trek, you will not be able to take part and your booking will be lost. No refund, transfer or gift voucher will be offered.

We cannot keep other participants waiting, so please arrive on time.

L. Toilets

Toilet facilities are available for emergencies only.

If you need to use the toilet, please text your guide when you arrive and remain in your car until instructed otherwise.

M. Choosing a Public or Private Trek

Please only book a public trek if you are a confident walker.

If you walk at a steadier pace or require regular breaks, please book a private trek so we can run the activity at your pace.

N. Participants and Spectators

All participants must be paid for and booked before attending. Spectators are not permitted.
