Fontburn Reservoir Closure - IMPORTANT ANGLING UPDATE FONTBURN RESERVOIR
Further to our last update regarding the road closure we had hoped the reservoir level would increase with the recent rainfall during this time. Having looked at the forecast it is apparent that the level will continue to fall during this time leaving the banks unsafe to fish. The safety of all visitors to our sites is our number one priority. So, with that in mind, we have no choice but to close Fontburn Reservoir, for angling, due to the low water level on the site and unsafe bank conditions.
Regular anglers on the site will know that, historically, when levels have dropped – as they do naturally – we have suspended angling on site, and this is the situation at present.
While we understand this will be a disappointment for people who like to visit the site, we hope you understand that your safety must come first and ask that people respect the closure.
We will continue to monitor the site, with safety at the forefront of our minds, and update this page when we have news on a date for re-opening. We look forward to being able to welcome people back to Fontburn when the time is right and hope that, in the meantime, you continue to enjoy our other sites safely. In the meantime, Rainbow Trout angling remains available at Kielder Water, Derwent and Grassholme reservoirs.
Whittle Dene Reservoirs - Please note due to low water levels the Lower Match lake is not available for fishing.
At this time the Northern and Great southern remain open however extra care should be taken due to slippery surfaces and soft ground.
If in doubt please call us on 01207 255250 before purchasing your permit.
We will update as soon as levels recover.
Derwent Reservoir - We would like to advise due to low water levels the disabled ramp is out of use until levels recover.
Hury Reservoir - Open For Catch and Release only
Coarse Fishing - In the interest of fish welfare during hot weather, please make sure that you use a keep net of a minimum size of 3 metres in length.
Fishing times - 8am - 4pm (from 1st Nov)
